The Guest List of Grace
Jesus called Levi, a despised tax collector, to follow Him while he was still actively engaged in his sinful profession. This radical act reveals that God doesn't require us to clean up our lives before coming to Him. Instead, Jesus calls us as we are so He can transform us. Levi's immediate response led to complete life transformation - he left everything, hosted a banquet to introduce his friends to Jesus, and eventually became Matthew, the gospel writer. When religious leaders criticized Jesus for eating with sinners, He responded that He came not for the righteous, but for those who know they need a Savior.
