Marriage is one of the most misunderstood institutions in our culture, but God has not changed His mind about it. From the very beginning, He designed marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman for life. Malachi chapter two makes clear that God Himself is a witness to every marriage covenant, and He takes faithfulness within that covenant seriously. God hates divorce, not divorced people, but the act of breaking what He has joined together. Culture offers many excuses for walking away from marriage, but none of them hold up against the standard of Scripture. Protecting your marriage requires the same intentional effort you would give to any other important area of life. Whether you are married or not, you are called to honor and guard the covenant of marriage in how you live and how you love.
