God has already provided everything we need for a life of faith and godliness, but spiritual growth is never accidental. It is always intentional. In 2 Peter 1, Peter outlines seven virtues we are called to actively add to our faith: moral excellence, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. These are not a checklist to complete but a lifelong, cyclical practice. When these qualities are growing in us, we become fruitful, we gain assurance in our faith, and we are far less likely to stumble. God has done His part completely. The invitation now is for us to walk the journey of discipleship on purpose and with diligence.
