Dig a New Well

Isaac's story in Genesis 26 reveals the crucial difference between inherited faith and personal conviction. Despite being Abraham's son and witnessing God's faithfulness, Isaac repeated his father's mistakes because he was living off borrowed faith rather than developing his own relationship with God. The turning point came when Isaac finally dug his own well—symbolizing personal faith—rather than simply re-digging his father's wells. This teaches us that while inherited faith can introduce us to God, it cannot sustain us through life's challenges. Eventually, we must move beyond family traditions and secondhand beliefs to establish our own personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
