Suffering 101 – Lessons from Job

Suffering is not optional. It comes for everyone, regardless of faith, character, or circumstance. The book of Job reveals that the central question in suffering is not why it happens, but who God is in the middle of it. Job was a man of complete integrity who lost everything, yet he fell to the ground and worshiped. His friends assumed his suffering was punishment for hidden sin, but they were wrong. God does not always explain Himself, and righteousness does not guarantee a pain-free life. When God finally spoke to Job, He did not answer Job's questions. He redirected Job's gaze toward His own greatness, and Job moved from being a critic to a worshiper. That same invitation is open to anyone walking through a season of loss or confusion.
